Center for Instructional Innovation

What We Do

The CII is a support organization for TSU faculty and students using instructional technologies in both face-to-face and online learning environments. It is comprised of three divisions to serve the faculty and students of Tarleton:

Online and Hybrid Support

We strive to support you in your use of many online instructional tools, including Blackboard, TSU’s Learning Management System. Other ancillary instructional software we support includes Turnitin, Respondus, Captivate, Centra, Softchalk, and Chalk & Wire.

The Online Instructional Support Services division of the CII is available until 10pm most evenings for faculty and students to get help. Call x1960, or our Toll-Free number 1-866-744-8900 - Option 3.

Classroom and Lab Support

Have a problem with the instructional equipment in your classroom or computer lab? Call x1934, and your dedicated college-level technician will respond to your “just-in-time” need. The Classroom and Lab Support Services division has made great strides towards standardizing instructional equipment (smart boards, projectors, document cameras etc.) so that, no matter what classroom you use, it will look the same.

Additionally, if you or your department is planning to purchase instructional technology or software either with departmental funds or grants, we would encourage you to talk with us about your plans before you make your purchases. By communicating your needs to us, we hope to provide workable ways to integrate your ideas and plans as seamlessly as possible into our current standards and infrastructure or provide alternatives that may also meet your goals.

Faculty Innovation & Training

The CII’s division for Faculty Innovation & Training promotes and facilitates teaching excellence. The division serves and supports the needs of faculty by offering a full program of regular workshops, consultations, & instructional tool trainings to enhance and inform on topics related to teaching and professional development.
