Performance Differences and School Size enrolled in AP or IB courses are not required to take the AP or IB exams, the sample of students is self-selected. As such, the results may not be generalizable to students who enroll in AP and IB courses. Third, because not all students complete AP and IB courses at the same rate, differential attrition may be a threat to validity. Therefore, readers are urged to exercise caution when generalizing the results of this study.
