3.6 Copy Content from Live Section to a Repository Section (Mandatory)At the end of each semester, you must copy the content from your LIVE section back into a repository section to maintain the latest version of content. This is especially needed if changes were made to the content over the course of the live term. It is important to remember that student data is not copied back to the repository during this process. Also note that copying content back to the repository DOES NOT affect your ongoing LIVE section, but merely copies content out of it. 1. Log into CE 6.0 server. 2. Select the ADMININISTRATION TAB. You will first see all of the sections that are in your repository. 3. Notice, there are no Live course section in the list. 4. You have the option of either copying content from the live section back into the original repository section or to create a new repository section. Some instructors prefer to keep multiple sections of a course in their repository for sections that are offered in terms of varying length. For example, you may teach a Summer 10 week course that may have a different content structure than a regular Fall/Spring 16 week course. Another reason is to create a new repository section is to allow for Face-to-Face components that have content structured differently than a fully online offering. For directions on creating a new repository section to copy to, click here. Otherwise, to copy content back to it's original repository section, continue to Step 5 below. 5. To copy content from the live section back into the original repository section, select the “Action Links for this Item” icon located to the right of the Repository Section for which content will be copied into from the Live course. 6. Choose the “Edit Properties” from the pop-down menu. You can change the title of this section if desired. It is best to use a name that is representative of the content.
7. Under “Reassign Section Content”, choose “Copy content from another section” radio button
8. Click SELECT SECTION button.
9. The Select Section dialog screen will appear listing all repository sections. The link: TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY appears just above your repository sections. Click the TARLETON STATE UNIVERSITY link.
10. You will now see a list of Live courses. Select the link of the Live course that you will be moving content FROM.
11. Select the radio button beside the course you will copy content from.
12. Click the SELECT button. The live section will now appear in the “Copy content from another section” field of the Assign Section Content area of your screen (below).
13. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click SAVE button. A dialog warning will appear that informs you that all dynamic information such as student data, chat logs, discussions and mail will be deleted in your repository course. Also, there will be no dynamic information from the live course brought across to the repository course. You can maintain a course backup of the live course section and download dynamic information separately if needed. 14. Click OK button. The reassignment task is placed in the queue and steps are now complete. You can now move back to My Blackboard TAB and begin preparing the content for the next semester the course section will be taught. NOTE: At this point you should have completed the steps for compiling and downloaded your grade book, discussions, and mail for each Live section. |
